Life
Under StreetLamps

They are silent whisperers. Their whispers speak through the frame I am viewing.

I am a watcher, a listener, a seeker.

I often approach them in slow and deliberate steps. All the time they just enjoy their dance and sing in the breezing wind, or just stand and sit still. Neither welcoming nor pushing me away, they dance through the time of living and being themselves eternally.

Each of them carries a unique stance. The stances existed within the surroundings, but never overpowering or detracting their own beauties. The stances penetrated time, serving as a timeless testament to the human experience.

The streetlamps transformed the street into their stages. Monochrome enhances the visual spacing tensions, suggested not only a single point of view perspective existed, but showing the subjects’ surroundings could also be a part of the play or even the leading role. Harsh artificial light changed the visual texture of the organic living plants’ soft leaves and the hard branches, reshaping the viewer’s intellectual understanding of the organic subjects. The visual tensions are high in first sight but actually carries tranquillities, or turned some into a human-like portrait. The visual unity are tend to challenge the intellectually disunity of viewers, to redefine organicity among inorganic textures existed in biomorphic forms.

It’s their above verbal languages communication show. Play in a harmony which could only be sensed by citizens who also live under the same streetlamps, but whose souls flow slower than them.

The prints are in Gelatin Silver Prints and Pt/pd Prints in various size.
